What it is

Chemical properties

PBX is the potassium salt of n-butyl xanthic acid, functionally similar to sodium butyl xanthate (SBX) but with the potassium counter-ion, which some plants prefer for water-chemistry reasons.

Application

How it’s used

Used in copper, copper-cobalt and complex sulphide flotation, and where plant water chemistry favours potassium over sodium reagents.
