Sodium Hydrosulfide (NaHS)

A key sulphidising and precipitation reagent used to activate oxidised sulphide surfaces and to precipitate dissolved metals from solution.

What it is

Chemical properties

NaHS is typically supplied as a concentrated aqueous solution (commonly 40–45%) or flake, and acts as a source of sulphide ions (HS-/S2-).

Application

How it’s used

Used to sulphidise oxidised copper and cobalt minerals ahead of flotation, and to precipitate copper, cobalt and other metals from process and effluent solutions.

Used with / for
  • Oxidised copper/cobalt minerals (sulphidisation)
  • Effluent metal precipitation
Storage & handling

Store sealed, away from acids — contact with acid releases toxic H2S gas.

Safety

Toxic if H2S is released; corrosive; handled under strict SDS/PPE protocols. Full Safety Data Sheet (SDS) supplied with every consignment.
