What it is

Chemical properties

MIBC (4-methyl-2-pentanol) is a weakly ionising alcohol-type frother. Formula C6H14O, CAS 108-11-2. It lowers surface tension to generate a stable froth without acting as a collector itself.

Dosed alongside a xanthate collector in copper, gold, zinc and polymetallic flotation circuits to control bubble size and froth stability.
